Our Story
Lottura was born out of a desire to bring encouragement to women of all ages to use intentionality and purpose when choosing how to dress themselves. Not making frequent mindless purchases, but considering the conditions in which a piece of clothing was made, how the material it's made with will hold up over time, how it will serve them through the up's and down's of pregnancy/postpartum/aging, assessing if it fits well within the rest of their wardrobe, and if it will help them feel beautiful and put together while also being practical for their everyday tasks.
In high school I made a very conscience choice to dress in a way that helped me feel put together and beautiful, and I very quickly noticed how much more productive I was throughout my days. With the limited knowledge I had, I quickly fell into the world of fast fashion and would only look for the cheapest deals - and by the next season I would find that all my previous purchases would be either falling apart or there would be something about the item that would make me feel uncomfortable, whether that was the material or the fit, and I entered the cycle of getting rid of clothes I didn't like while also continuing to buy more of the quick and cheap items.
Years later, I remember purchasing my first $200+ dress and when I held it in my hands I could immediately tell the quality was much different than anything else I had ever owned. I wore that dress multiple times a week, and 7 years later, it is still a piece of clothing I wear very regularly. I began thinking about how I would be emptying out multiple trash bags worth of clothes from my closet every year and how it felt like such a waste, and I compared that to the handful of high quality items I then owned, and came to the realization that I wanted to change how I viewed my wardrobe. Since then, I've been slowly saving and making very thoughtful purchases of high quality items, and I have found that very rarely do I get rid of something, and getting dressed on the daily is so much easier when I know all my options are items that I really love and that I feel comfortable in. I have since had three children, and through all the shifts my body has made, I have added a step of intentionality and now think how a piece of clothing will work with a body that seems to always be changing, and if I feel I can take on my daily task of motherhood while wearing it.
I have talked to countless women who talk about how they have the desire to feel put together and ready for the day but also want to be comfortable - and it's this that finally gave me the push to bring Lottura into existence. I want to be here to help women embrace their femininity and feel equipped to go about their daily tasks while feeling comfortable and beautiful.
The name Lottura is inspired by my sweet baby girl, Lottie - That I may be able to encourage her to bring intentionality and beauty in all she does.
Each piece has been intentionally sourced from makers that prioritize ethical environments and we aim to have all our pieces be made of natural fibers while making sustainable choices whenever possible.
